Malaysia's Unemployment Rate Unchanged At 3.5%
Malaysia’s unemployment rate stayed unchanged in November from the previous month, data released by the Department of Statistics revealed Tuesday.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate came in at 3.5 percent in November, which was unchanged from October.
On an unadjusted basis, however, the jobless rate increased to 3.4 percent in November from 3.3 percent in the prior month, data showed.
There were around 484,600 unemployed persons in Malaysia at the end of November, which was higher by 4.8 percent than in October. Year-on-year, unemployment surged 27.1 percent.
Meanwhile, the number persons in employment decreased 0.2 percent month-on-month to around 13.68 million in November. Annually, employment advanced 8.2 percent.
The statistical office noted that labor force participation rate stayed unchanged at 69.1 percent during November.
