December’s Zew Survey Points to Solid Growth in Germany
Quotes from Capital Economics:
- December’s ZEW survey confirmed that German investors ended last year in buoyant mood, with the main economic sentiment indicator (ESI) rising to its highest level since April 2006. And while the current conditions index remains at rather more sober levels, it too appears to be on an improving path.
- We see no reason to expect this fundamentally optimistic message to have changed in January. If anything, the upward momentum points to further rises in the indices, so we’ve pencilled another five point gain in the ESI.
- This would provide some support for our expectation that, having apparently registered fairly modest growth in Q4 last year, the German economy will expand by a relatively solid 1.5% or so in 2014.The material has been provided by InstaForex Company – www.instaforex.com
